This broad major provides students with a basic understanding of modern world history, international relations, world cultures and world religions. Part of this learning, as well as intensive language instruction, takes place abroad. As students advance in the international studies major, they deepen their understanding of particular parts of the world and specialized issues of international importance. The study abroad and language requirements of the major ensure that NMU students experience internationalism rather than just learn about it in classrooms.

Standard-based Global Education Updates
The idea for this task is to integrate global education into the core standards that we already use as teachers. Think about how you can interpret, present, and meet these standards and benchmarks using a global education approach, perspective or framework. Think about how you can modify lessons and include informal outcome assessments to incorporate global ideas. Click on the title to see some of my ideas.

This program focuses on supporting young at-risk female students in becoming independent, healthy successful community members.
